About Us
Finding peer-based social care support that allows members with all abilities and disabilities to feel valued and lead meaningful lives in our community is a challenge. At Positive Paths, we understand this struggle deeply. Our journey began in 2013, inspired by the significant gap in post-school support for young adults with additional needs in Scotland.
Lisa Hunter, our founder, has dedicated over a decade to working at the Royal Blind School since 2001, where she gained extensive experience and realised her passion for working with young adults with disabilities. After leaving the Royal Blind School, she noticed the lack of group-based programs for adults in the community. This realisation led to Positive Paths to bridge the gap and offer meaningful, peer-group-based post-school provision.
Our mission has always been to bring young adults together, preventing isolation and promoting the benefits of a supportive peer-based community. Over the past decade, Positive Paths has grown into a strong community-based provision in Edinburgh. We offer a range of services, including day services, short breaks, social events, and one-to-one support for those with more challenging needs.
